Borrelli’s Uses VersiEats to Cater to the Corporate World

Borrelli’s is an Italian eatery that has been providing the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego with a quick and delicious option for lunch and dinner for 19 years. People working nearby can grab a generous slice of gourmet pizza for themselves or pick up an entire pie or pasta dish to feed their coworkers. Borrelli’s also serves a variety of deli sandwiches, soups, salads, and so much more.

After nearly two decades in business, Borrelli’s has seen a lot of growth in the area as tech companies have added more corporate offices in the search to produce the next major innovation. Not wanting to interrupt these employees’ tireless workflow, Borrelli’s has found a new, faster way for customers to get their lunch. Recently, they added VersiEats online ordering to their website. Since they do a lot of to-go orders, co-owner Denise Shulze felt it was a natural fit.

“It’s just so much more convenient,” says Shulze. “It’s easier on my staff because they’re not having to spend so much time on the phone taking orders. So they can focus on other things. It’s also easier for our customers because they can order ahead and their food is ready when they get here.”

Sounds like a win-win for Borrelli’s and their customers! Shulze has hit on the main reason we wanted to create VersiEats: It makes life simpler for restaurant staff and their patrons. It alleviates confusion and stress in the kitchen as employees try to juggle call-in orders and dine-in service. In a busy office, it’s hard to place an order for co-workers over the phone—especially when there are special requests. This is something Borrelli’s deals with a lot.

“A lot of our customers come from the corporate world. Our restaurant is close to offices for Sony, Amazon, and Hewlett-Packard,” Shulze points out. “So, they love how quick and convenient online ordering is. They can just go to our website and get exactly what they want.”

Being in a tech hub, it makes sense that Borrelli’s would want to cater to Millennials who are more likely to order lunch from their laptop rather than picking up the phone. Our team took this into consideration when creating the VersiEats integration. We wanted it to be a simple add-on for restaurants, and easy for customers to navigate. Updating your menu is a breeze, it improves order accuracy, and it streamlines your operations.
